Investor readiness is the process of making a business decision-ready before it enters a funding conversation. It combines numbers, governance, evidence and narrative.

Decision lensInvestor readiness is not presentation polish. It is evidence organised for a decision.
01

Clarify the funding ask

Investors should be able to see the amount sought, use of funds, expected runway, milestones and proposed capital structure without reconstructing the answer themselves.

02

Make the model challengeable

A useful financial model exposes assumptions, scenarios, cash needs and sensitivities. A model that cannot be challenged will not build confidence.

03

Build a coherent diligence pack

Commercial evidence, financial data, governance, legal structure, cap table and key risks should align across the data room.

04

Prepare management for challenge

Investor conversations test judgement as much as slides. Management should be ready to explain trade-offs, downside scenarios and why the capital plan is credible.

Questions to ask before acting

A short decision checklist.

  • What job is this capital expected to perform?
  • What are the principal sources of return and loss?
  • How much liquidity could be needed under stress?
  • What assumptions would invalidate the decision?
  • What review rule will govern the allocation after the initial decision?

From insight to action

Good analysis should lead to a clearer decision, not more activity.
